Jeera Rice (Restaurant-Style)
Ingredients
1 cup basmati rice
2 cups water
2 tbsp ghee or oil
1½ tsp cumin seeds
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander (optional)
Method
- Wash and soak rice for 20 minutes.
- Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds and bay leaf.
- Add drained rice and sauté gently for 1–2 minutes.
- Add water and salt, bring to boil.
- Cover and cook on low flame until rice is done.
- Fluff gently and garnish.
Dal Tadka (Classic Indian Style)
Ingredients
For Dal :-
1 cup yellow moong dal or toor dal
3 cups water
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
For Tadka
2 tbsp ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
4–5 garlic cloves (sliced)
1 dried red chilli
1 small onion (optional)
¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)
1 tsp red chilli powder
Fresh coriander
Method
Step 1: Cook Dal
- Wash dal and pressure cook with turmeric and salt for 3 whistles.
- Mash lightly and keep warm.
Step 2: Prepare Tadka
- Heat ghee in a small pan.
- Add cumin seeds, garlic, dried chilli, and hing.
- Once garlic turns golden, add red chilli powder.
- Immediately pour tadka over cooked dal.
Step 3: Final Touch
- Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
